Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)
Used for centuries in Africa to protect skin from the elements, shea butter is a botanical ingredient and natural fat extracted from the oil-rich seed of the Butyrospermum Parkii, more commonly known as the shea tree.With its rich content of bio-active triterpene esters such as lupeol and amyrin cinnamates, it is an excellent emollient – softening, smoothing, conditioning, and moisturizing the skin, while reducing dermal irritation and inflammation.
In fact, since its structure closely resembles the lipid content of skin, shea butter is considered a Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) – helping to keep the intercellular structure of the epidermis intact and actually stimulating collagen production.
Shea butter can be very effective in reducing the appearance of wrinkles, scars, and burns. And it even includes an unsaturated glycericidic component, which makes it useful as a UV screen.

Glycerin, one of the components of fats and oils, naturally occurs in the layering of your skin, playing a critical role in the structure. Kollagen Intensiv™ includes plant derived Glycerin, which acts as a humectant, attracting moisture to your skin, naturally softening and helping to prevent dryness.Wrinkles occur and are exaggerated in appearance when the skin loses moisture and elasticity. Glycerin helps to rejuvenate the skin through increased water retention.
Tocopherol (Antioxidant)
Tocopherol helps to prevent premature skin aging by discouraging DNA degeneration and cross linking of proteins while protecting the natural enzymes in the skin. An excellent antioxidant, it helps to remove free radicals, preventing oxidative damage from occurring.Studies have also shown that Tocopherol helps protect the fibroblast in the skin – the cells that make collagen and the elastic fibers in the extracellular matrix of the skin.
Tocopherol encourages skin healing, reduces scarring, helps prevent the skin from environmental pollution, protects against UV radiation (though not a sunscreen), and helps prevent sun-induced wrinkling.
